Hello everyone, I haven't been able to connect to the game in a while. Many things have happened to me recently, I had a daughter, and that completely changed my world and my obligations. As soon as I heard this sad news through the email, I was very surprised, since I did not know Kate's situation. I write today to say goodbye to an extraordinary being, someone who illuminated our lives in unique and memorable ways. I will always fondly remember the moment she invited me to be part of this clan, a gesture that not only defined our virtual friendship, but also created memories. It was evident that her passion for the game went beyond the games, as she built and maintained a clan that transcended virtual borders to become a true family for some. Every laugh shared, every game played and every victory obtained became moments of happiness for me and I would like to think that for the rest as well. Although today we are overcome by the sadness of her departure, we also celebrate the joy of having shared happy moments in her company. Rest in peace Kate. I will always remember you with gratitude and affection.

Silky, maybe you can post the balance here and what day of the month it's due so we have an idea of what to donate and when. It would be nice if the donation box percentage of goal reached bar actually worked. I'm going to post another $50 right now.

Yes im not sure about the donation box, the goal was set at 1000, but I didnt see any option to have this goal reset every month, it would have been nice cause then people could see how much that had been donated and if the goal had been reached for each month. Will look more into this and see if there is a way it can be reset on the 1st of every motnh.

To see if we can set the goal percentage at a monthly, quarterly, or yearly amount or whatnot to display the goal amount percentage reached. Website is billed per month, so say ie: March is paid by March 1st 2024, for March 2024. And April is paid by April 1st for April 2024, respectively. Oh, wow. The forum email went into my spam folder, so I didn't read this news until now. It's really sad. I came back to the game about a year and a half ago after so many years off. I didn't even know if there would be servers at all, never mind servers with real people still on them. I only had a few occasions to talk with Kate, but it always seemed like she really loved the clan/game. She was always super nice to me. Wondered why some rando was harassing me one day. Must have seen it in the logs, or something, because it was a while after the fact. She even invited me to join the clan a couple times. Not really sure why I didn't... Really tragic loss.

I'd be happy to donate some every month to help out.

The donation box is up again on the top right side of the forum, it's updated with the new paypal address so it's ready for donations. If we keep just the main server we shold be able to keep cost around 50-60$ for site and server according to Silky,

Yes if more people donate you can just donate smaller amount each, like 10 - 20$ or so, then 50$ will be reached in no time. We can always post here if money is needed, and maybe post here if you donate bigger amount than 20$ so that people doesnt donate more than needed. It's not a big deal if donation goes a little over 50$, they can always be used for the next month. The new paypal will be up soon so you can donate through the donation box on the right side of main forum as before, it's down right now but will be up and visible as soon as I have the new paypal email info.

As long as the quality of the game play isn't compromised by going cheaper, I think we're all fine with it. Would be nice to know why Kate insisted on doing it this way - she may have had her reasons. If others want to keep the other servers going, I'm good with that too. Is there any way to check on how much they were utilized? Either way, I am ready to go with this plan, with or without anyone else's support - but I know there are others who want to contribute something. I think everyone deserves a chance to feel like they are contributing to something meaningful - but I think just showing up and being present contributes more than money. And if we can keep the memory of Kate alive by maintaining a server where everyone feels welcome and respected, then we have done a good thing. I will commit to guaranteeing that we won't ever fall short if the donations dry up. Lets pull the trigger on it.

I was so sorry to hear about this, could hardly believe it. I'm relatively new and playing for fun. I glad for all the times when Kate was on when I was also playing. It's been always obvious how important Kate has been to the server and every on it. She is probably a big reason for the quality of the people who play here. Prayers and peace to Kate, her family, and everyone.

If we run just ONE game server off my machine this will put TOTAL costs of SERVER and WEBSITE to roughly $50 a month. I have enough IP's and storage space to run 5 servers or more if we really wanted too. For one game server I can cancel the extra IP's / ip block to get the costs of server and forums to $50 a month if we run just one game server. I'm ready to go if you all are, I just renewed the dedicated server this week. Just need to know if we're just running the main server or all 3 servers. XP and Admin levels will be transferred from current servers as I have access to the FTP for the current servers.

Our server hoster said that 110$ was already too much and that we would be able to do it cheaper, not sure if he means through another hoster or something waiting for his reply regarding that. He said it was kates wish to pay 110$ and do it this way. He said we should be able to do it for 60$ with all 3 servers included.

It's been a long time since our last conversation. While I couldn't get to know her better, I always knew she was a remarkably kind and friendly person. She strived to make this community better. A few years ago, she asked me for help in this regard. I feel ashamed that I couldn't fulfill all her requests. My thoughts and condolences go out to her family and friends during this difficult time.

I haven't posted on these forums or played the game in years. I used to play for years on the WF / ETS servers and was a member of the clan mostly because I loved the community. The gameplay was almost secondary. And McBeth/Bethy/kate/Marianne was integral to keeping the servers fun and engaging, keeping things running smoothly. We had tons of fun and ideas for making things interesting. Less hard-core and more about the fun! A Way for Fun, if you will (lol). Goddamn was she passionate about the game and keeping it lively but fair for everyone! And she herself was a lot of fun! I have much respect for who she was. A lot of my detailed memories of those times have faded but a lot of good ones remain with me and I at times have strong nostalgia for those days. And Kate was a huge part of that. Without her, I wouldn't have had my little safe social space in ET. I met a lot of great people on the servers because of her. She will be greatly missed. My condolences to everyone in the clan, servers, and her family.

I am so saddened by this news. My condolences go out to Kate and her family. I knew you but I knew that you were a very kind person and above all you brought our favorite games to life. Hi all, zugzwang here. I don't really do much gaming these days, since I'm so busy with other stuff, but I saw this incredibly sad news pop up in my email. I did not really know Kate all that well or for that long, but she was always such a lovely person whenever I was around her back in the day. It was also obvious that she cared very much about the server and genuinely wanted other people to enjoy themselves. Her passing is a reminder that we're playing with real people with real lives in these games. I also like to think that Kate wouldn't have wanted everyone sobbing too much, so try to stay positive and remember the good times! My deepest sympathies to her family and friends.

It is with saddened heart that I must tell that on January 19 following breast and lung cancer, Kate passed away. I got the message from her husband today. I dunno what to say, im so sad, I been here since around 2004-2005 and talked with Kate for god knows how many hours, through all the years through the ups and down, the good times and the bad times. I knew she had back pain problems but it came as a shock to all of us when she told us she had breast cancer and was going through chemo. We all hoped she would get through it but as time went on without any news I think I can say for all that we all got more and more worried. I really don't know what to say, i'm still in schock and very sad. Kate my friend we will all miss you, thank you for all you did for us and for the server throughout the years, I will miss our daily chats and having you around. May you rest in peace. My deepest condolosence goes out to her husband, kid, and to her family. As for the server and forum I dont know what will happen, if someone wants to help and pay to keep it running, in memory of Kate. I dont know what Kate would have wanted but she often expressed that she would like to close the server so if that is her wish I will respect that. I will talk to our server hoster and see what we will do and then I wait for her husband to reply. Everyone please leave a kind message for Kate and her family.
