Hi all, zugzwang here. I don't really do much gaming these days, since I'm so busy with other stuff, but I saw this incredibly sad news pop up in my email. I did not really know Kate all that well or for that long, but she was always such a lovely person whenever I was around her back in the day. It was also obvious that she cared very much about the server and genuinely wanted other people to enjoy themselves. Her passing is a reminder that we're playing with real people with real lives in these games. I also like to think that Kate wouldn't have wanted everyone sobbing too much, so try to stay positive and remember the good times! My deepest sympathies to her family and friends.

It's not a problem. I've already been donating $100 every month for years. So, just tell me where to send the money and how much. $110 or $140 is not a stretch for me.

I am so saddened by this news. My condolences go out to Kate and her family. I knew you but I knew that you were a very kind person and above all you brought our favorite games to life. I been trying my best to put words on here,but every time i try the tears start!!! My sweet Bethy was more then a friend she was family!!! Bethy i know you can hear us .. i well miss our talks and the kind words you always had to say to me, you are home now and not in pain.. Bethy you kept me going in life when i was very sick and didn't want to go on ,but now i have too try harder now to get well, not for me but for you ..damn this is hard bethy... my love gose out to your husband and son and the rest of your family.. till me meet agian my sweet friend love you with all Dennis...

*** I'm cross posting this from the staff section so our regulars and addicts and probies have a heads up of server situation *** As it saddens me enough to hear the news of our beloved kate, topcat and I have been in some discussion. Before kate started chemo she gave me all the info for the servers, just incase we had issues. With that being said, the servers will most likely be offline at the next payment cycle next month. With the amount of time and effort over the years kate has put into this community I would hate for it to go away. To me I feel the need to continue the servers and community in her honor/memory. We are thinking just running ONE server off my dedicated machine ( since i still have it anyways ) which will be identical to our Main Silent server ( as I have access to all the files etc for the current servers ) once the current servers expire. *** I will cover server cost and maintenance and adding maps etc. The website and forums portion is still in the works. *** Hopefully you all feel the same as me about keeping this community alive.

That would be great but are you sure ? It is a lot of money.

Hey guys, I just paid the $60 balance to [email protected] on PayPal. If we want to keep the original servers running, I will commit to paying the entire $110 per month if you want do that.

As 2mh mentioned the info has been posted. But just so everyone knows.... Website fees are $30 a month. Napoleon covered February's website cost. Server fees were $110 for the reliablesite.net server/machine that kate was paying for. Napoleon also covered $50 of this balance. ** So a balance of $60 is still owed, out of the total of $140. ** Paypal id: [email protected] ( if you donate to cover our current balance, please put a note in with the payment for what it's for please like Ets| Server or something. (PM me or post here if you donate so we can keep track of it please) After the remainder server balance of $60 is settled the only cost would be the forums/website a month. PLEASE NOTE: Paypal id: [email protected] is just being used to cover what fees were covered by Alex aka hellreturn for us. Which was forum costs for February at $30 and January 19th - February 19th server cost at $110. So a big thanks to him for doing so. Second Note: Game Server will be moved to my dedicated server to cut down on costs as $110 a month for a machine where we will be running one server off of wont be needed. Hopefully this helps clarify our remainder balance of the fronted services provided by Alex/Hellreturn

She never liked it when i put in ,but i got it top if you need it , I'll pay it all if i have too for Her.. i don't know how to do the serv. part but i can pay for it all just to keep the serv up and running for Bethy.....

Hope you don't mind schnoog * It is with sadness that I have to inform you today that macbeth (also known as ETS-Kate or Marianne ) has passed away. She put her heart and soul into helping us hour after hour and became not only the administrator but also the soul of Splatterladder. I will always remember her as a friendly, dedicated and kind-hearted grande dame of the Enemy Territory community. My thoughts are with her family. Volker

Domain: ets-clan.com Registrar: Moniker Online Services LLC Registered On: 2019-09-04 Expires On: 2024-09-04 Updated On: 2023-09-05 Domain name ets-clan.com seems to expire 9/4/2024 When it expires we will pick it back up so we can keep the same domain name after it expires in September of 2024 . And as far has the forums it's hosted by hellreturn ( owner of f|a ) from what he verified to me and topcat on discord so we can keep the forums.

We need a more ‘instant form’ of messaging - I genuinely think that we should put the resources into discord instead. servers are free and they’ve got voice/video capabilities, if you’ve never used it think of a forum but not as analogue

I’ve got you mate - give me a shout i can either host on my vps or i can host the redirect. I’ve got enough space for the 3 servers

I can host servers if need be, i have a machine that can do that. I just don't know how to make a redirect server. I'll be around if you need help with anything, including running and configuring servers.

I will absolutely support any effort to keep at least one server alive! Indeed @-Silky., She needs to be remembered for as long as we can hold on..! Using your server is a quick and clean way to do so, and I will be happy to back you up financially, or any other way . But we have to take some things into account: - What about the forum... It's hosted at the same place as the main server is now, not? Can we get a backup and self host? - We should get control over the ets-clan.com DNS name. This is something I could easily do, but to do that we need the domain authorization key from the current hoster. There is no need for him to keep a hold on it, but we do need his cooperation for this to happen smooth and quick. - Besides the forum, most discussions we had were on another channel. Up to now Kate, Top and me were always online with Skype for that, so... I really hope we can regroup and get this working! Bier

Got Return To Castle Wolfenstein from my wife for Christmas in 2002. First video game I ever owned. It must have taken me two months to beat it as I crept around every corner so I wouldn’t get shot. Had absolutely no idea what I was doing. Like many here, I’ve been playing this game since it first came online in 2003. Originally Wolfenstein, Enemy Territory; now just Enemy Territory. Only ever joined one clan; Xodus. Still carry the “X” from it in my game name. I decided back then that I was not “a clan guy.” Have only ever played under the one game name, too; anotherwhiner. Never changed it. I don’t know how many servers I’ve played on in twenty years. A lot. Enough to know the good ones are few. When I finally found the ETS server many years ago, I remember frequently getting in-game private messages from Kate asking if all was good. I often told her I kept returning because it was the best-administered server I’d encountered. In the beginning, she asked if I’d join the clan. When I declined, she asked that I at least join the forum. I did, but she soon discovered I wasn’t into posting on it. I always liked that she didn’t keep bugging me to join but settled into being happy just seeing me playing on the server. It surprised me at first, but I came to like, too, that I couldn’t go two days without playing before I’d get an email from her asking if everything was okay. At first, thinking I was special enough for her to be reaching out to, I soon realized I was not unique. It was she who was the special one. She often asked if I thought the game was “going away.” I reassured her it would be here forever. Over the past two years, her playing time on the server diminished. She complained often of “back problems.” Said she couldn’t sit long and would have to go lie down. On the 11th of January, I emailed her because it was the first time I’d ever not seen “Kate” listed as present on the server. This time, it was me asking if everything was okay. She replied the next day, “Hi yes prolly my et crashed. I am at a private clinic at PARIS cuz healthies problems. Thanks to send me an email.” She included a link to the forum about her health problems, but I couldn’t access it because, apparently, it’s been years since I created the account, and my sign-in doesn’t work any longer. So, I thought she was finally getting her “back problems” fixed. Seven days later… she was gone. I didn’t know Marianne beyond the scant details above. I know she had a caring heart. …Caring enough to take to the streets in protest. …Caring enough to fret about the fate of this game we play. …Caring enough to check in on a too-long absent player. I can’t imagine the depth of the loss her family must feel. We’ve lost a mate. A mate in cyberspace who embraced everyone who loved this game, stuck around, and played by the rules. Prolly my et will crash one day too. Until then, I will think of KATE whenever …wherever I play. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I hope the server continues. Willing to help.

Rest in Peace bethy... we will miss you so much. Thank you for the 17 years we shared together on your servers! We will never forget you. 🌹
