  1. **Feel free to give opinions, ideas, or suggestions For the expansion servers on my end. **

    To help clarification:

Dedicated machine 1 will host our Main Silent Server, Classic Silent, And back to Sniper server if I'm correct per kate.

Dedicated machine 2 has 5 available IPs. I can run 5 different servers on their own IP or multiple servers off a single IP.

So far via conversation with Kate, the ideas for dedicated machine #2 are:

Server 1: Vanilla server + Silent mod, competitive settings, FF ON. Etc ( plus this will also be reserved as a Silent Main backup server  if need be, And Possibly Game day events ? ) [ Tactical Harcore ]

Server 2:  fun wars + regular game play mix server via NQ ( Tactical Anarchy )

Server 3: et jump or etlegacy ( if legacy mod I would suggest a stable legacy server version and legacy 2.77 for mod ( Mostly due to ets server menus, and other reasons. )

  2. Odd, It shows up for me on steam 2.60b version and et legacy on the masterlist. But i also have all 3 servers saved in favorites though too.  And connects fine with the ets|server menu that pappy so kindly provided. But thats also a direct link to server IP. I'll check it out this weekend.

And I definitely have this in the server cfg for the nitmod server. So it should be appearing on the masterlist.

    set sv_master1 "etmaster.idsoftware.com"
    set sv_master2 "master.gamespy.com:27900"
    set sv_master3 "master0.gamespy.com"
    set sv_master4 "clanservers.net"
    set sv_master5 "master3.idsoftware.com"
    set sv_master6 "wolfmaster.idsoftware.com"
    set sv_master7 "master0.etmaster.net"

  3. Is it crashing to desktop?

Or are you getting an error message on crash?

I know when it happens, server side it just says " ets|bier[nl] disconnected "

If it crashes to desktop, is your desktop screen brighter or darker than normal?

Think you have a AMD graphics card if I recall.  If you had a update for it, I'd roll back to previous driver for AMD card.

  4. So far I have noticed, atleast on server 3 ( nitmod) the bots have more human like movements, especially engaging in a fire fight. Better goal and objective responses. Basically just better in all aspects of previous version.

The screenshot below is from nitmod server. Take note of the bots ppm now. Before the update the bots barely got above 12.0 ppm and below. Now they're way above that and some in the 23.0ppm range

    Screenshot_20230901_073049_Chrome.jpg.14c526fbd34567e8fe013a3530d71cde.jpg

And here is the same map on server 1 ( silent main) before kate updated the bots in comparison to the updated bots on nitmod server 3. Quite a difference!Screenshot_20230901_073948_Chrome.jpg.439d901b5dbec7a218c29fc1bc0b6a84.jpg

  5. +1 from me ( plus he's a Mike too?. So ofcourse has my vote lol )

Good seeing old ET players returning.  I for one have been playing since 2006-2007ish off and on.

Good luck with your application and welcome to the forums.  See you on the server man!

  6. Also for nvidia users not necessarily game client related but in general:

If you are using Intel CPU, Make sure game is running Nvidia GPU and not Intel. You can find that in the nvidia control panel.

To be sure that ET is using the correct GPU:

with 2.60b ( Vanilla ET) type in console /r_lastvalidrenderer

with ET Legacy type in console /gfxinfo

It will display current GPU and some settings.

*edit* This is also handy for any cpu type especially with onboard/integrated graphics along with a secondary graphics card like amd ryzen desktops

Good to know for the owners of these cards!

I had similar issues in the past with my AMD RX460, after installing an updated driver. That resulted in low fps and chunky movement in the game. After some Googling I found this command that worked for me (in game console):
    /seta r_primitives 2

Never took the time to find out what it does exactly...

It changes the rendering method. Normally it is set to 0, and the available options are -1, 0, 1, 2.

    r_primitives [-1|0|1|2]

    -1 = skips drawing

0 = uses glDrawelements if compiled vertex arrays are present, or strips of glArrayElement if not. (cvar r_ext_compiled_vertex_array "1")

    1 = force strips

    2 = force drawElements

I run AMD card and r_primitives 2 as well, and also vsync and multithreading optimization manually forced to disabled. r_ext_compiled_vertex_array "0", r_finish "0". And some other cvars  that I can't think of off the top of my head

  8. This may be helpful for those with Nvidia Graphics cards running ET:Legacy client with FPS issues and light boxes/coronas showing as square boxes etc.

Everyone who has an nvidia card make sure that you go to the control panel - 3d settings/programs/etlegacy - and turn off threaded optimisation in there for the game.

The open source idtech3 engine that ET legacy uses isn't properly threaded so it causes a few different issues when you have it on. According to one of the Devs I've spoken with.

    I Will update your level

we are working with Silky for this uneven team problems

did ETs not even the team?

I believe it was sky* purposely stacking the teams because, I guess he didn't like that fuel dump was voted for as next map and that he couldn't call a vote for next map during a map? I caught the end of the map, 2mh said something to him about it and sky* said something like " can't call vote for next map = stacking.  And to fix it" or something or other.

Some of our none ETS players actually do even up sometimes so that is good. One thing I know people dislike is when teams are shuffled, this often ends up with people leaving or going back to the team they were on before. So just be aware that some people might leave. Also for shuffle I think our old rules was to not do it in middle of a map, only in warmup before map start. But maybe ask guys first to even up. Another thing is sometimes a team is dominating really hard even though they have less players, so then I do !howfair to see how fair the teams are, I dont feel like joining the team with less players if they are already dominating, but it depends how long time there is left and if the other team still have a a good chance to win.

Yes, balanced teams can go so many ways.  Like topcat said about not feeling like joining the lesser team if they're dominating. Sometimes can have teams say 3vs2 already when you join the server. By default most would make it 3vs3, but say those 2 players are holding their own and just dominating changes up the balance too. Number of players per team doesn't always mean balanced and fair teams. IE:  Sometimes I will switch teams by checking the scoreboard ,even when the teams are even in player numbers. Say teams are 4vs4 and scoreboard is axis ( 1000 ) and allies (500) that would indicate that allies needs help and switch,  then the teams end up being 5vs3.

But certain higher k/d players like to unbalance the teams by stacking them all to the same team and just dominating and running the server empty I've noticed. That's what me and kate has been discussing regarding a unbalance issue.

It's one of those things that's hard to make a definite call on as it's hard to find the medium.  One of those ordeals that's been around  forever with ET in my honest opinion.

  11. The issue with the !shuffle command is that players that have been moved via shuffle can move right back.

Option 1: we force team balance via the server with g_teamForceBalance ="1" , then that would make all players that connect and try to join a team to be forced to the lesser person team. IE: WILL ALWAYS FORCE THE TEAMS TO BE 1VS1,2VS2,3VS3 AND SO FORTH WITH HUMAN PLAYERS IF ENOUGH PLAYERS ARE PLAYING TO DO SO. IF NOT THE MAX UNBALANCE OF HUMAN PLAYERS WOULD BE IF SAY 5 HUMAN PLAYERS ARE IN GAME, MAX UNBALANCE WOULD BE 3VS2 AND WHEN ANOTHER PLAYER CONNECTS WILL BE FORCED TO MAKE IT 3VS3 AND NOT 4VS2. IF MAKES SENSE LOL. BOTS are excluded but will join when a player disconnects like normal.

Option 2: a shuffle/balance lua script that would keep teams fair via xp and or k/d rate. Like a auto shuffle before a map during warmup to keep teams fair skill-k/d rate wise to prevent the same team dominating over and over. And Also will balance when needed during map/match based off team k/d ratio. IE:

    Allies (4 players) K/d combined 15

    Axis (4 players) k/d combined 9

It would auto move 1 player to Axis from Allies making teams Allies (3) Axis (5)

    Or

    Allies (5 players) k/d combined 15

    Axis (4 players) k/d combined 8

It would auto move 1 player to Axis from Allies

And so forth. To try and keep a better balance

Option 3: try and get other players besides ETS| to follow suit and even teams when necessary and when asked

still I wonder to know  what name did you used when you played No with us :classic_blush:

Name has never changed. Would have been either *ECF*, *KI* or |ABC| tags or just the normal Silky without tags. I'm getting old and forgetful lol.
