  1. A White line is a path for the bots to follow, A Green line is where the bots can walk and the Red line tells the bot the path is closed. Because the path is blocked by an object or the bridge is missing, etc.

Rule #1. Bots do have the ability to go anywhere and do as they wish unless it has been specified differently.

In short the object of bot files is to control the bots behavior.

To keep them focused on the correct objective at the moment and to keep them from getting lost or stuck some place.

The bots do normally know what to do and where the objectives are and how to get there. In theory, ROFL.

  2. This is HOW TO  make a 498 byte microsoft windows shortcut connect to a server.

You can use a MICROSOFT shortcut for a instant connection to a network, file server, and many other task's including a game server.

There is a different format required for FTP servers, networks, etc.

Every type of connection has its own formatting/syntax required for the shortcut. But it is still the same shortcut, only with different information, data or details.

If you are running any USA version of Microsoft Windows these directions will work. Administrator rights may be required.
I do not know if this will work on International versions of Windows.
When you double click Microsoft Word's desktop shortcut it starts or loads up MS Word instantly and you can then type a letter immediately.

A desktop shortcut will work for enemy territory and other software including Microsoft Windows Explorer to connect directly to a server exactly the same way as MS Word's desktop shortcut loads up MS Word instantly and you can then type a letter immediately, no difference. Double click and pick your team, that simple. Double click and you are looking at the contents of a networked drive on the other side of the world.

Connecting Enemy territory is just 1 example of what can be done with a desktop shortcut.

By changing the data & formatting syntax in the shortcuts properties, it can then be used for connecting to networks and many other tasks.

How to set up the shortcut for Enemy territory.

#1 First You will need a Genuine Microsoft Windows desktop shortcut for Enemy Territory.
When you installed the game a desktop shortcut was created.

#2 Right click on that shortcut and select copy.

#3 Pick any empty place on you desktop and right click and select paste
       - you should have pasted a COPY of the Enemy Territory short cut on your desktop.
The shortcut will say it is a copy and you can rename it later.

#4 Right click on that Icon\shortcut and select properties.

#5 On the properties page of the shortcut you should see tabs at the top, you want the TAB labeled SHORTCUT.

#6 On that tab you will see a section titled \ Labeled "TARGET:"
The information in the target section should be correct because you made a COPY of the shortcut.
    *******************************************************************************************************************

#7 Now to edit the shortcut,
Your installation of enemy territory is probably on your "C:\ drive"

All - SPACING and QUOTES must be correct and the PATHS must be for YOUR installation of enemy territory.

It may look similar to this: "C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\et.exe"
You will need to copy and paste or type in this new information after the second quote in in your game path in the TARGET section..

       THE GAME PATH - "C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\et.exe"

There is a "space" after the second quote.EXAMPLE-->"wolfie" +set fs_game

Start at the arrow tip to copy and paste----> +set fs_game silent +connect 108.61.18.108:27920

All - SPACING and QUOTES must be correct and the PATHS must be for YOUR installation of enemy territory.

This is an EXAMPLE of what the information in the "TARGET:" section will look like when completed.
       "C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\et.exe" +set fs_game silent +connect 108.61.18.108:27920

All - SPACING and QUOTES must be correct and the PATHS must be for YOUR installation of enemy territory.
    *********************************************************************************************************************

These are many different examples of address strings for the "shortcuts" - properties - TARGET: section.
Some IP Addresses are no longer active. These are only examples of the format required for Enemy Territory & QuakeWars.

All - SPACING and QUOTES must be correct and the PATHS must be for YOUR installation of enemy territory.

Sometimes seeing is easier than reading. I like visual aids :o)

This is to MY QuakeWars server

    "D:\Program Files (x86)\id Software\Enemy Territory - QUAKE Wars\etqw.exe" +connect 192.168.2.101 - NOT ACTIVE

// there is no mod or port number or password specified for this QuakeWars shortcut. So any will be accepted by client connection and the server does not require a password

Game Path - The mod you want to play - the ip address of the server you want to connect to - the port number the server is using for the connection.

    enemyterritory        - nitmod                                                    - 80.56.227.144                                                                                   - 27960      -password

    "D:\Program Files (x86)\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\et.exe" +set fs_game silent +connect 192.168.2.101:27960 +password chickenbucket

    ETS

    "D:\Program Files (x86)\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\et.exe" +set fs_game etpub +connect 104.243.41.34:27961

This is using vanilla LEGACY with NO mod specified to connect to a server - NOT ACTIVE
    "D:\Program Files (x86)\Enemy Territory - Legacy\etl.exe" +connect 104.243.41.34:27962

This is using LEGACY with silent mod to connect to a silent mod server - NOT ACTIVE
    "D:\Program Files (x86)\Enemy Territory - Legacy\etl.exe" +set fs_game silent +connect 104.243.41.34:27960

  3. Native12 & Qiki, palota, UJE Captain, Mateos, Tardis, crapshoot, bigsighstudios.com, WeB*GANG$TA*, I am sure that this list of the creators of the bot files that we use is not complete.

We use many bot files from these creators, some exacly as they created and some with a little help from me. But the bot files are still their creation, :applaus:

    Not mine.
