All versions of Windows after Windows 7 are just UTTER GARBAGE (Except Windows 8.1). i'm still holding out on Windows 7, and i managed to hack the updates to get ESU until next January.

but as long as i am still using this toshiba laptop, it's sticking to Windows 7.

Windows 10 and 11 will have shit performance on ET because the OS is made to run modern programs, ET was made for Windows NT4/98/ME/2000/XP so obviously it won't run that well on the current Windows versions so you'd probably be better off with ET Legacy.

if you are dedicated with vanilla et, you can still get better performance by installing it into "C:\Games\WolfET" instead of the default directories, no "Run as administrator" necessary! also make sure your ET is patched to 2.60b with the Masterlist patch. you can get a pre-patched 2.60b ET here: https://www.splashdamage.com/games/wolfenstein-enemy-territory/

but there isn't much you can do with improving vanilla performance, it's just the way it is.

you wish, lol. - this laptop is literally 10½ years old now, with heavy use throughout its life. my mom recently retired her toshiba (which is identical to mine) and i took the shell from it because my shell finally fell apart completely. i also JB-Welded some screw posts back onto the shell and hot-glued the power jack harness to the shell to keep it from wiggling around. call me insane but i can't just buy the type of new laptop computer that i'm looking for easily because of the goddamn supply shortages and lack of funding to do so due to increasing expenses.

so i gotta do what i gotta do to get this thing through another year. :P

i got some of that myself as well, such as my laptop's transformer brick is cracking apart. i now have a nice shock hazard.

This laptop's days are numbered, and i don't know when it'll catastrophically fail, but it is inevitable.

I'm still here on the forums, but not so much on the server lately.

I haven't been up to playing ET, I'm just not into it right now.

My second opinion on this is that it's going to create another Windows Vista-type situation, because it needs TPM 2.0 and mandates Secure Boot, which not every computer has a UEFI BIOS or the capability of Secure Boot, that means hardware older than 3 years will not work on Windows 11, which i call BS on that.

as for Windows 11 Home, stay away from it since it requires an internet connection to set up since you must have a Microsoft account and that is complete bullshit, if i want to set up my next PC offline or online that's my own god damn business.
